From the middle of June to the end of August the high Provencal plateaux get covered with a purple gold. Air smells like perfume and villages vibrate with life and happyness, for in the lavender country beats the heart of Provence.

Following the most scenic routes, away from mass tourism most of the time, enjoy the authentic villages of High Provence and its preserved way of life.

You’re looking for fields of lavender as far as the eye can see, immensities where only a few masures and some trees come to punctuate the purple fields. Then VALENSOLE is made for you, with the Occitane en Provence factory of Manosque it is a 100% lavender place. Mostly lavender fields, not our first choice but super fampous.

Or you’re looking for a more traditional Provence, hilly landscapes doted by splendid medieval villages surrounded by lavender fields, SIMIANE-LA-ROTONDE and its strange castle, BANON with its famous goat cheese, SAULT the capital of lavender. On Saturday enjoy the most beautiful market of Provence in APT.

Our favorite remains the area of SAIGNON, AURIBEAU, BUOUX, BONNIEUX, the least touristy, the most authentic ! If you have time it’s even possible to keep on by Saint-Martin-de-Castillon and Viens.
