Project Description
A hidden valley
Be surprised, be amazed, swim in rivers and walk hidden villages
In the Alpes-Maritimes, the valleys runs north to south, receiving the influence of the sea…. except one. The Estéron valley which runs east to west, from Gilette to Saint-Auban.
For centuries, it has been the borderline between Savoy and France, withstanding numerous conflicts, but at the same time developing a unique identity we help you discover for yourself.
Ask anyone living on the seaside, where they would hide for a get-a-way weekend. If they want to see villages untouched for hundreds of years? The answer is the same: the Estéron valley.
Gilette, the “cats village”, is represented in the battle wing of the Versailles castle since a great victory took place here in the 18th century; Gars is probably the only village still a secret to this day and the rare inhabitants want to keep it that way. It is a little heaven; Cigale is listed as one of the most beautiful village of the region a “must see”; Pierrefeu is so timeless its museum is called “out of time”. In the Departmental Park of the Estéron you will swim in a river renowned for its purity, and at a point we will take you to a “clue”.
“A clue” is the product of the combined efforts of the river and the mountain joining to create a natural slide. The Estéron host some of the finest ones. The most adventurous ones will include a canyoning session.
Experiences: Swim the Estéron, discover unknown villages full of charm, organize a canyoning session, discover the mysterious fortresses on the mountainside, see one of the famous painted chapels.
